COURSE OUTLINE

-Watch 1 video per week over a 10 week period. Each video takes between 40 minutes to 1.5 hours, including all class exercises.

-Weeks 1-4: SETTING UP YOUR BOOK: create character, setting, genre, plot and outline through mini exercises completed in class. For homework you will expand out and explore what you created in class. You will train your writing muscle every day so when you start writing the book, it is ready to go. Homework time varies from 20 minutes to 1 hour.

-Weeks 5-10: WRITING THE NOVEL: each week you will write 2 chapters of your book, culminating in a first draft that consists of 8 chapters. This is a mini version of your novel that is clean, streamlined and with a complete story arc, ready for you to easily edit into a more complex second draft. Homework time commitment varies from 1 - 2.5 hours per day.
